On the shoreline of Lake Geneva and the footsteps of the Swiss Alps lies Montreux. Montreux is a traditional resort town and considered one of the most beautiful locations in the French speaking Switzerland. It is known as the heart of the Swiss Riviera with a promenade lined with flowers, sculptures, Mediterranean trees and grand Belle Époque buildings. One of the attractions is the medieval island castle, Château de Chillon, and one of the events that comes up in one’s mind when hearing ‘Montreux’ is the jazz festival that takes place every year in July. Montreux has held an attraction for Hemingway, Nabokov, Princess Sissi and many others with its admirable views of the lake combined with the surrounding mountains.
