Aqaba

Aqaba Vacation Packages by TrueTrips

At the crossroads between two continents and bordering Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Israel, this coastal city has been a major contributor to the historical, economic and political development of Jordan. During the Great Arab Revolt, the Battle of Aqaba (6 July 1917) marked a decisive turning point for the coalition of Arab forces. Commanded by Auda ibu Tayi and advised by T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), the Arab forces overcame and defeated the Ottoman defenders gaining access to the strategic port city in the process. Today, Aqaba is home not only to historical monuments and sites but also to a thriving tourism industry, catering to visitors that come from far and wide to enjoy the city’s warm weather, beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, enthralling coral reefs and colorful daily life.
