This tour will take you on a guided exploration of three historic Dalmatian locations – Split, Salona, and Trogir. You will begin with a visit to Split, the region’s largest city that was first founded as the ancient Greek colony of Aspálathos sometime during the 3rd or 2nd century BC. During your time in the city you will have the chance to see the impressive UNESCO listed Diocletian’s palace, explore the history of the beautiful Old Town, and take-in the city’s vibrant energy. Discover Split and the Ancient Ruins of Salona

Explore the history of Dalmatia with a fascinating tour of Split and the ruined ancient Roman city of Salona. Originally founded as an ancient Greek colony between the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC, Split was famously chosen by Emperor Diocletian as the location of his palace where he chose to spend his retirement days at the turn of the 4th century AD. Split is a beautiful amalgam of the past and the present where you can witness contemporary life unfold on a stage that has been evolving for the past 1700 years. After taking some time to explore Split you will head northeast to the ancient city of Salona. Though not much remains of this once flourishing Roman city, a measure of its past glory can be gleaned through its massive ramparts complete with towers and gates as well as a collection of civic buildings including temples, an amphitheater, and even cemeteries with Salonian martyrs.
