MONASTERY OF ST. JOHN THE THEOLOGIAN

One of the most significant Greek Orthodox monasteries in the Mediterranean. It holds an impressive collection of priceless items, such as much of a 6th-century copy of the Gospel of St. Mark, an El Greco original, and icons from the Cretan School of painting.

CAVE OF THE APOCALYPSE

This sacred grotto is where, according to tradition, St. John wrote the Book of Revelation. In conjunction with Chora and the monastery of St. John, the Cave of the Apocalypse is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

CONVENT OF ZOODOCHOS PIGI

A convent founded in 1607. The beautiful church, which is adorned with 16th to18th murals and woodcarvings, is home to the miraculous icon of Panagia Eleousa. The convent also hosts a small but impressive museum of sacred vessels.

FOLKLORE MUSEUM OF PATMOS

A private museum housed within the mansion of the Simantiri family. It features a collection of furniture, paintings, icons, and antique everyday items. Despite its small size, the museum gives insight into the life of local aristocracy a couple of centuries ago.

EVANGELISMOS CONVENT

Consisting of the Evangelistra Church, and two chapels dedicated to St. Loukas and St. Antonios. The convent is home to 40 nuns who occupy themselves with social welfare, gardening, beekeeping and Byzantine embroidery.

CHURCH OF PANAGIA DIASOZOUSA

Hidden in the heart of Chora, this 1599 church is dedicated to the power of the Virgin Mary. Inside the church, visitors can admire the miraculous icon of Panagia Diasozousa.
