Today you will leave the famous city of Valletta and head out to discover three of Malta’s smaller yet very important towns. In Mosta, a town located in the center of Malta, you will discover its striking Rotunda – a church famous for having the third largest unsupported dome in the world. In the medieval town of Mdina you will have a chance to admire the beautiful palaces that once belonged to Maltese noble families and the town’s bastions, which offer striking views of the island. The final leg of your journey will be Rabat where you will explore its early Christian catacombs – a remarkable underground complex of corridors and chambers, which is also one of Malta’s most significant archaeological sites. The southern part of Malta is home to a number of beautiful attractions. To the south of Zurrieq, you will find a spectacular system of caves and caverns including the famous Blue Grotto that mirror the brilliant phosphorescent colors of the underwater flora. You’ll have the chance to admire this mesmerizing scenery and visit the tiny harbor of Wied iz-Zurrieq from where you can also see the scenic island of Filfla in the distance. At the picturesque Marsaxlokk fishing village (the largest fishing harbor of Malta since antiquity) you will see the popular Luzzus. These colorful fishing boats with eyes painted on them as well as larger fishing vessels line the village’s sheltered harbor in a colorful display that has been the subject of countless photo shoots!
