Bilbao & the Guggenheim
Art, Architecture & Coastal Flavors
Today, you will visit the stylish city of Bilbao and the world famous Guggenheim Museum. The building itself is a true visual masterpiece designed by the acclaimed architect, Frank O. Ghery. It first opened its doors in 1997 and it has been housing works by renowned contemporary Spanish and international artists ever since. After spending some time exploring the museum’s exhibits, you will take the scenic route along the Nervion River and head towards Bilbao’s Old Town. This medieval part of the city is home to beautiful architecture and charming winding alleys that are simply a joy to walk through. On the way back to San Sebastian, you’ll make a stop for lunch at the lovely fishing town of Getaria – the best place to try the region’s traditional and delicious seafood dishes!
