Today you will have the opportunity to explore some of the best attractions in Funchal and the nearby Monte. Your journey begins at the local market where you will encounter flower sellers wearing bright traditional costumes, local producers with colorful produce stands around a central patio, and a vibrant fish market, where, among other species caught in this part of the Atlantic, you will see the otherworldly scabbard fish. You will then head to Monte where you can walk through the gardens and climb the stairs of the Church of Our Lady of the Monte before heading back down to the town of Funchal.
