Today you will visit the mighty Silves and the lush town of Monchique. Your tour starts with Silves, an important stronghold in the defense of the Algarve where you will visit the Castle of Silves, its iconic red castle and its nearby cathedral that recounts the tales of the Portuguese soldiers that bravely laid down their lives for their nation. You will then visit the village of Monchique that was once the spa of King John II who believed the local waters had healing properties. Nowadays, Monchique is home to some of the most interesting local handicrafts in the Algarve! Before returning to your hotel, you will also have the chance to visit Mount Foia, the highest peak of the Algarve where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding areas.
