The Elah Experience: From Biblical Battles to Wine Tastings

Make your way to The Valley of Elah also known as “the valley of the terebinth”, the historical site where David fought Goliath. Drive to the west side of the valley and see the ancient Sokho tree, 55 feet high, 17 feet in circumference with the breadth of its shade reaching almost 75 feet! Visit the town of Tel Azeka in the upper reaches of the Valley of Elah, and see the wonderful vistas of the valley below. Follow your guide to the Bar Kochva Caves, where you can crawl through the rock formations to reach the opening of Adulam Park – keep in mind this activity is not for the faint hearted ans you will be traversing very small and narrow cave passages. Conclude the morning with a visit to the Tzora forest, where you can participate in a tradition Jewish tree planting activity. Now you have an important choice to make, get down and dirty in the archaeological dig under Tel Maresha at Beit Guvrin, where you will be able to discover artifacts from the time of the Maccabees or visit a traditional winery in the Ella region, where you will be able to taste the various wines and learn about the new methods of agriculture that help create award winning wines. The choice is yours!
